Essential BACS

Historically BACS has been the only way to provide electronic payment to staff without using the expensive CHAPS service. Since Faster Payments was introduced in 2008 organisations have had a real alternative to BACS for paying their staff.

The advantage of BACS is payments can be made without access to the client bank account. The payments file is produced by us and uploaded to our BACS partner. They then process the BACS file and initiate the payments. The process starts on day 1 and completes on day 3. The BACS service requires that a client has a SUN (Service User Number) and authorises our BACS partner to make payments on their behalf.

Payment files are always authorised by our clients prior to being transmitted for payment.
