Furlough scheme comes to an end

The Government Furlough Scheme, also known as the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, comes to is coming to an end. While Chancellor Rishi Sunak has hailed the £70bn emergency fund a success, many employers and employees are still hesitant about the future.

The UK came out of lockdown on 19th July, after a month’s delay. Fidelity International investment director, Mike Currie, told the BBC that ‘no-one really knows what is next’, despite 5.5% growth in GDP over the 2nd Quarter of 2021.
